Southcoast Agritourism
Sunday we visited a working farm in Acushnet with the girls. By working I mean working on getting visitors to spend their time and money there. They have numerous animals and hay rides and story time and various characters and a food truck that smelled very good. The 80 degree weather in October didn’t hurt. Overall it was a great experience.
Above: The farm mascot is a scarecrow. A scarecrow that manages to smile despite being impaled on a stake and missing several of his extremities. Below: Phoebe was surprisingly calm after being furiously nipped by mother goose. She should be most concerned about the fact that her father did nothing to stop this from happening even though he had just witnessed the goose attacking his own shoe. Actually, she should be most concerned that after having spent the entire morning on a farm, he never washed her hands before she ate lunch and then realized while under question from her mother about this that he could not remember ever having washed her hands before a meal.
Above: Given the range of the chicken, it is probably not necessary to include their official classification on the info board. The irony is of course that an individual chicken at any one time is considerably more threatened than an individual snow leopard, but that is not the concern of WWF. Below: Phoebe puts her back into it. I am not sure if “bigger is better” is learned or ingrained but Phoebe is very much a disciple of this philosophy.
