As part of the house purge I got out the old drumset to take some pictures and get it up on Craigslist.  I haven’t had the kit set up for a long time.  I don’t think the girls have ever seen it together.  It was interesting how quickly they took to it and I was surprised that the noise didn’t seem to put them off, particularly Ellie who was manhandling the cheap and rather racous crash cymbal.  Someday I will get another kit, probably an electronic one like their grandfather has. Drums are fun but they are loud and unless they are properly tuned and in a room that deals with the acoustics, they are not very pleasant to listen to.
