Laying the Foundations of Poor Body Image with Tacos

Mondays have transitioned from pizza and playground night to night games followed by dinner and a movie.   This was largely incited by the onset of early sunset.  I changed the bulbs in our outdoor lights and deactivated the motion sensors and we now have enough illumination to go on the playset,  kick the soccer ball, around or play a modified game of one-handed street hockey.  The basic rule of thumb is that the hockey stick when placed on the tip of the blade should reach the bottom of your nose when you are in sneakers.  Even at 3’2″, Ellie’s stick falls a foot short.  I don’t know who these sticks were designed for but if the manufacturers were just being cautious I will inform them that a longer stick held with two hands is far safer than a shorter stick that can be swung in any direction at any time by one arm.  We have had two minor incidents, not surprisingly Ellie’s follow through making contact with Phoebe.  Around 6:45 we head in and I reheat Sunday night leftovers and start a movie.  This week it was turkey tacos and Disney’s Sleeping Beauty.   Phoebe and Ellie have seen a dozen or so films at this point and Sleeping Beauty is by far the worst.  Disney also has a series of books where they summarize impossibly complex plot lines in 5 or 6 pictures.  I read one such book on the Little Mermaid donated by the Jerotz’s  on every night of our San Diego trip.  It made little or no sense.  For the case of Sleeping Beauty however, you could easily boil the plot down to a half dozen pages.  A plot that is absolutely full of holes.  The ladies ate their tacos and I was allowed to clean and had only to sweep through to re-apply sour cream to the exposed end of Ellie’s tortilla-wrapped turkey mix.   She loves sour cream (as I do) but she refers to it as cream cheese and occasionally whip cream.  Rudy cleaned up the inevitable mess of shredded cheese around their feet and I shuffled them in the showers to start the bedtime procedure.  I have a feeling dinner and a movie, or rather dinner and half a movie will carry on throughout the winter.
