Double Whammy
What’s even more depressing than 4:30 sunsets on the first day back to standard time?: A surprise snowstorm. After taking Nyquil the previous evening I found myself sleeping in until 10 a.m. Cristin was busy reading her facebook posts where all her friends had checked in with the hideous times that they were woken up by the their children and I was happy that even though the ladies were awake a bit earlier than usual according to the clock they had left us alone. I listened to them play in the new monitor which has intercom capabilities so I can communicate with them from the comfort of bed, usually telling them to stop jumping off the train table. I was entertained that Phoebe was immediately curious as to the source of my voice but it doesn’t faze Ellie in the least that she can hear me but not see me. Eventually sometime during the third play of the frozen CD I heard Phoebe pull the shade and report loudly that it was snowing. I knew about the Nor’easter but had no idea we were getting snow on November 2. That first visit from winter is always shocking to the system so I took the ladies to pump ’n’ jump to avoid getting cabin fever on day one of the season. The roads were not too bad but we passed two cars that had left the highway rather abruptly and decided to take it easy. I had not been to pump ’n’ jump on a weekend before and was surprised to see the crowds. We have been there on more than one occasion and been the only customers. Today there were three birthday parties and I counted 100 kids in just one of three sections. Despite zooish conditions, the ladies had a good time and played hard and I managed to keep them awake on the way home so that Cristin and I could enjoy some downtime in the late afternoon when they rested. Some time on the bike and hot homemade Chili for dinner rounded out a decent sunday.
