Non-Union Labor Prevails

The weather was very cooperative for father’s day weekend and Poppy and Tootsie were finally able to schedule a time to come down and assemble the playhouse they purchased for Ellie and Phoebe.  Given the amount of time reported by Dave to assemble his and after witnessing our neighbors put theirs together some years ago working past midnight drove me to constrain the potential assembly time by spending the first half of the day in the boat.  We went over to Marion and took a spin in our new rollup dinghy.  The girls had a good time and this became a theme for the summer where we probably logged more hours in the inflatable than in our own boat which served mostly as a snacking platform with a bathroom.  When we got back we got right to work and as the mosquitos bore down on us, Poppy became determined to finish before leaving so a planned trip to the Inn was converted into takeout at the Creamery so we could have a working dinner.  The ladies have enjoyed the house which is also frequented by spiders.  At one point a  large grass spider made herself a beautiful funnel web right above the door.  She may still be there because a characteristic of funnel builders is speed and every time I got near her, she darted into the portico.  This reminds me that I should probably open that up to get the egg cases out.  According to the web she will protect her 100 or so babies until she dies at first frost.  They will emerge in spring.  That might be a good event to avoid.
