Not Exactly a Bareboat Charter
A spontaneous trip to the virgin islands to bareboat charter a beneteau 34 featured Jon basically doing everything and the rest of us doing almost nothing. A CCW circumnavigation of Tortola featured the following overnights.
- Marina Key (mosquito attack! great dinner at Pussers)
- Bitter End (schwanky resort, sub-par snorkeling, falsely advertised sundaes)
- Leverick Bay (skippable if not for the very nice private beach in Cow Bay )
- Long Bay (Dinner at Foxies JVD – very good)
- Norman Island (solid exploit of Americans with their thanksgiving buffet)
- Cooper Island
Anegada was canceled due to a broken chartplotter which was disappointing. A broken starter (strangely correlated with a high speed power race to the last mooring spot in long bay) was fixed fairly quickly by a mechanic who referred to the starters as “chickens”. Seeing as chickens run rampant over the islands I would hope that the locals could identify them. The consensus was to return and visit bitter end, a few days in anegada, long bay on the return and perhaps the last night at Cooper to make for an easy morning back to Road Harbour. Also next time a catamaran. A very fun trip overall.
