The Cats of Couch Sleep
Phoebe’s new friday evening swim time has put the kibosh on my working late so there is a chance it might become some kind of movie night. So far we are 0/1. Cristin slept through the entirety of Wolf of Wall Street (which made Bugs happy) while I muddled with my guitars in the basement. I am not sure why she selected the movie because the Howleys had given it a two thumbs down but I was not around for picks. My preference for friday night is a comedy and the Wolf of Wall Street is only funny if you find humor in watching inept bankers find yet another way take your money and in some cases create conditions that lead to global recession. It would be interesting to do a whole series of these starting with the excess and speculation of the 20s, skipping to the 1980s S&L, skipping over the “Wolf” period to the subprime crisis and then most recently high frequency trading. Somehow I don’t see the techies behind high frequency trading snorting cocaine off of inebriated strippers so that movie might be in need of some pep. It also would take about half an hour to explain how it works and the other concern is that it might actually get the average person to wonder – how the hell is (was) that legal? Next friday we will get out Rotten Tomatoes and find something to keep Cristin awake.
