Routine Weekend
Another winter weekend has slipped by. Ellie had swim with Mr. Greg on saturday morning and Cristin rushed Phoebe from her YMCA swim class to catch a few minutes of the hilarity. Ellie continues to talk incessantly while motoring around the pool with a bubble strapped to her back. Cristin took the girls to Friendly’s for lunch where Ellie coughed herself into a vomit which Cristin somehow hid on her plate. I came home to put Ellie in her crib for a nap and Phoebe and I went outside to build a snow fort. We failed to complete the structure I envisioned and this was partially because Phoebe’s contribution level was somewhere in the vicinity of 0.002%. While getting out the sleds she saw her bike and wanted to ride and biking was on my mind since her cousin Jake officially shed his training wheels this weekend so I caved. Somehow this led to us biking at dusk with her winter gloves on all the way to the school playground on back roads which were covered with packed snow. I think we were just both happy to be outside. Sunday was replete with patent emergencies so I took the ladies to the Cape Cod Children’s Museum. There is nothing museum (a building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural interest are stored and exhibited) about this place but they enjoy it. I enjoy it a wee bit more in the summer because there is a guy with a sausage cart who sets up shop directly in front (Frank’s Franks). I dropped off Ellie at home and took Phoebe to our weekly free swim at the Y which she refers to as a swimming lesson. We had tacos for dinner and I took the ladies upstairs to unwind. Cristin came upstairs to accelerate bedtime and her timing was impeccable because she found herself having to clean up the contents of Ellie’s diaper which had spilled out on the ground following her cry of “I take it off”. Cristin has declared that next weekend she is not going to do any work. I am not holding my breath.
