New School
Phoebe started her new pre-k program today at the Y. This has made my tuesday/thursdays a bit more complicated as I have to first drop off Ellie who continues to cry when I leave her and then drive Phoebe over to her school where dropoff involves signing in, using the potty, washing hands, etc. It is not for people in a hurry and I suspect I will start skipping some of these steps as time goes on. She had a great day and they have a private facebook page where they posted photos of the kids at school which was fun to see. Phoebe is in a mode where her imagination is used for 53% of all question responses so I am never quite sure what is fiction and reality when I ask her how her day went. The school is in a beautiful spot by the water that originally belonged to a railroad mogul. The old track to fairhaven (now a bike path) passes directly behind the building and the owner had a small spur where he could put the coach he used for his trips from Boston. At some point it became a private club and eventually a fire nearly consumed it and it sat vacant for a decade or so before the YMCA bought it and brought it back to life. This brief history is excerpted from a conversation with a neighbor who walks his cat on the beach near our house so it would need some fact checking. In addition to an increasingly busy morning, there is now some downtime between the Ellie and Phoebe pick ups. I am going to try and use that to do errands but on the first day I just took Ellie to the wharf to look at boats.
Addendum – The school has a brief history here.
