Last Boat Trip – 2012

It seems we have taken our last family boat trip for 2012.  The boat was very good to us this season.  The only casualty – a broken ladder mount – was my fault.  We took her over to Marion and listened to whatever games were being played on the Tabor fields.   Based on the number of whistles it was either football or field hockey.  Those sports do a good job at suppressing physical activity.  It was a crisp clear day and instead of packing a bunch of snacks we packed a legitimate lunch for Phoebe in her school lunchbag thinking it might inspire her to eat an actual real meal.  No such luck.  She wanted nothing to do with it and Ellie proceeded to eat Phoebe’s entire sandwich.  I am not sure what this is all about because I have stood at school watching her through the weird one-way glass and she eats everything in her bag.  She is at that age where kids play awkwardly and interaction is rare and it is fun to watch a half dozen of them sitting and eating and just looking around. Adults in that situation will feel the need to start some kind of conversation (elevators excluded).  This is the reason that the weather was invented.    I guess toddlers don’t feel that need.
