Fin de vacance

The last day of our summer vacation was spent in Mattapoisett.  We took the boat to our favorite cove and rowed the inflatable over to the beach.  I was hoping the beach to be a bit more sandy but the muck was ultimately more interesting to Phoebe who collected critters with her mom while Ellie tried her best to rub sand in her eyes.  We got back to the boat just in time as the wind had picked up and the anchor had given way.  Above:  Rudy snoozes in his latest spot while Ellie squawks at him.  Below:  Ellie shows that she is just as capable of snoozing in uncomfortable places.

Above: Phoebe took her pail over to the beach and collected 197 snails.  Her affinity for snails ended quickly after she was slimed by one.  Below:  Ellie takes a sunbath.  Above: the ladies enjoy snacks on the wharf after dinner.  Phoebe’s sugar high took her way past bedtime.  Below: big thunderstorms roll by to the south.
