Retreat!

In their much parodied commercials, Calgon offered to relieve stressed out moms by ‘taking them away’ in some kind of bubble bath.  Personally I don’t understand baths but this is partially because I don’t fit in them and I am one of those people who have been made aware about a certain societal advancement known as the shower.  I thought about this tonight as I watched Phoebe sob uncontrollably and refuse to eat her dinner because I refused to play “Trot Ole Joe” and the baby writhed in my arms because she was “overtired” while I watched the clock creep towards the expected time of Cristin’s arrival.   At some point during the sobbery I came to the realization that my Calgon is Jet Blue.   I am not sure where I would go and I would probably turn around out of guilt on the way to the airport but I was thinking more seriously about this than I probably should have been. However, as a closet narcissist I have a certain skill for rapid and total immersion into fantasy. Ultimately Cristin arrived and somehow got the baby to sleep and Phoebe scarfed down her dinner two hours later than scheduled and all is apparently well until the next time I am alone with the girls.
