Tractor Pulls and Glitter Fairies
After a slow start to the day we headed out to the boat where we found ourselves thoroughly unmotivated to go anywhere. We grabbed a derelict mooring on the calm side of the harbor and inflated the dinghy to go for a cruise. We went up the Mattapoisett River where there were dense schools of pogies with 100s of fins slicing the water and ospreys enjoying the easy catch. After waiting out a small rainstorm on the boat we hurried back to catch the last day of the Rochester Country Fair. Initially the ladies were a bit disappointed that the main events were tractor pulls and lumberjack competitions and that the strawberry ice cream had actual bits of strawberry in it but things turned around when we found the more kid-friendly area that had pony (technically horse) rides, glitter tattoos, face painting, and a large box filled with corn seeds to play in. A solid summer Sunday.
