One Fun Day
Cristin and I had to swap wednesday and thursday so I was in charge of the ladies for a full morning. I am feeling quite housebound of late so I decided to take them to “Pump and Jump” at a nearby mall. My previous experience with them at this establishment was fun but a bit stressful since the girls are necessarily out of your view quite a bit while they are in the inflatable mazes and Ellie became frustrated when she couldn’t go on all the structures. I learned this the hard way when I sent her in to one and she was over her head and I had some difficulty extracting her. This time everything went fine. Despite Phoebe’s recent demonstrations of issues with height she had no problem climbing some of the large walls and slides, some of which are 10-12 feet off of the floor. Ellie was tentative at first but Phoebe finally coaxed her onto a smaller bounce house in the little kids (under 6) area and eventually Ellie ventured over to the 4 and up area and although I am biased I was very impressed. Phoebe gets an award for sister of the day because she was extremely good to Ellie and the two of them were in utopia. For most of an hour it was just the three of us and the girl at the snack stand and eventually we ended up with about a half dozen kids sharing a dozen or so bounce houses. We took a break to play some of games which require buying into their currency which is loaded on a card. Watching the ladies voraciously swipe these cards gave me of my glimpses of the future. They spent a lot of tokens on games which required zero skill so talked up the air hockey and set up a rematch from our previous game at the end of last summer. As the duration of play was established by the first to score 7 points, the game went on for a very long time, accelerated only by their tendency to score on themselves as they maneuvered the puck into position for the next strike. We loaded up around 1:00 and headed home. Next time we are bringing mommy.
