Back to the Grind
Our extended holiday break comes to an end. Three Christmas celebrations, new years eve, a circus, fireworks, and much insanity with the cousins. It was a fairly warm sunday so I outfitted the girls and towed them on the sleds to the boatyard and down to the town beach near the house. The ladies spent quite a while throwing snowballs at the mushy sea ice before I took the initiative to start work on a snowman. As soon as I rolled the lower ball, Phoebe caught on to what I was doing and became very distraught. Instead of getting upset she lobbied for a snow caterpillar and somehow this morphed into a snow bunny. I towed them home and Ellie helped Cristin make chili before the ladies sat down to lunch. I took Phoebe to our weekly swim time and was semi-relieved to find that the pool was closing a bit early which truncated the cold swim from the usual 2+ hours down to 1. I pushed her as much as I could and took off her floaty a bit and found that instead of being a little panicked as she usual would be, she was actually a bit cocky. It turns out that when it comes to swimming, I think conservative is preferred. She didn’t want me to give her any assistance. The experience made me realize that I can only take her so far. She needs some proper teaching again to get her to the next level.
