Spring has Sprung

A beautiful spring day. All over town, the shrink-wrap is coming off boats, ladybugs are infesting bathrooms, and moms are sleeping in while dad’s fumble through basic parenthood. The ladies got up around 7:30 and I entertained them upstairs with some puzzle game that is too easy for Phoebe and too hard for Ellie and really only improves upon their ability to irritate each other. We had the usual breakfast and went outside to scooter up and down the street. Cristin bought Ellie a Radio Shack scooter and it is definitely a lesser quality than Ellie’s but she likes to ride it. She immediately went to goofy foot as Phoebe had done. We grabbed snacks around 10 and went to the beach to play at the playground and then went to Shipyard Park where the girls ran around for a few hours. Phoebe mostly sang Christmas songs and Ellie jumped repeatedly off the tiny bottom step at the bandstand. We went home around noon to find Cristin still in bed. Normally I would be happy for her but nothing comes for free and she is facing a very late, sun starting to come up, kind of night. I packed lunches and we took the girls to Ned’s Point for a lovely picnic.

Above:  The girls were in the swings until my shoulders started hurting.  I can see why they were enjoying it.  Below:  Snacks by the flagpole.

Above:  Phoebe walks among the barnacle covered rocks.  I once cut my fingers on barnacles and my sister showed very little compassion.  Below:  I took this picture because it reminded me of a photo I had taken 18 months ago here
