Florida: Arrival in St. Pete
My first real travel vacation with Cristin in four or five years. This is somewhat excusable because we live in a vacation town and most of our family are nearby. Cristin decided on St. Petersburg because of proximity to Florida family, the Fougeres, and a direct flight out of Providence. The rousal and flight went without a hitch and the kids crashed on the way to the rental house which was about a two minute walk from the beach. The Fougeres brought pizza and Phoebe took to Devin immediately, enough so that it was a little hard for them to leave and Phoebe gave us an earful about not having a friend.
Above: A low-tech Frosty looks on while Phoebe plays a game on the iPad. Below: Ellie watches an episode of Dora the Explorer. She managed to snag the larger iPad which was good because it hooked on her feet at just the right angle that the screen wouldn’t keep re-orienting itself. At one point I grabbed her headphones to make sure they were not too loud and discovered that they were completely turned down. Dora bought us about an hour. After that we took turns entertaining her, passing her back and forth across the aisle every five minutes.
Above: This is the view from the second floor looking west into the Gulf of Mexico. Not bad. Below, Phoebe was not at all put off by the chilly water.
Above: From Snowy Mattapoisett to Treasure Island Beach in eight hours. I am not one of those people who complains about air travel. Below: I am not sure what is going on here but Devin seems to be in charge.
