Uncle Rusty!

Phoebe is obsessed with Frosty the Snowman.  She has several stuffed versions of him, she sings the song constantly, and she has no less than eight books about snowmen.   We have yet to make a snowman because she does not want to face the inevitable.  The grief of his melting is not worth the joy of his existence.    Her obsession has started to reach new heights because she is now constantly creating images of him in legos, crayon, etch a sketch, etc.  Her sketch book has page after page of nearly identical sketches of frosty.   There is a museum in Lausanne, Switzerland where they display artwork from the insane and repetitive images is a common theme.  Recently I went to pick Phoebe up at school and her teacher asked me “Who is Rusty, does Phoebe have a brother?”.  I was a bit confused and a little worried until we went into the hallway and she showed me all the drawings the kids had made.  Rusty was in fact Frosty.  Ten drawings, nine featuring mommy, daddy, and in some cases a sibling or pet,  one drawing featuring a snowman.  Above:  Art assignment:  Draw pictures of your family.  Below:  Phoebe’s family:  Rusty (Frosty)   Below:  A screendump from Phoebe’s ipad doodle app.  This is her classic frosty.  Single snowball, arms, legs, hat, eyes, mouth.  Pretty cute actually until you realize her sketchbook contains dozens of similar images.
