Boo at the Zoo
An initially drizzly day took us to the Buttonwood Park Zoo to see the animals and Halloween decor setup for their nighttime fright walks. Phoebe had no interest in the animals, or lunch for that matter and we spent time chasing her amongst the partially inflated Frankensteins and spiders. Ellie is in full on kissing mode and managed to kiss a horse and a goat and tried to kiss a chicken but we managed to stop her before she got too close. Her kissing is very awkward to me because it is slow and she always aims for my lips. I usually redirect her so that she kisses one of cats. If she is to carry the Cowles name she’ll need to suppress this outward expression of affection. The baby beavers are growing up quickly but they are still pretty cute. They have enough debris in their pen to make some approximation of a den but in reality there is a concrete dam and a concrete den so it is only I guess to exercise their teeth and keep them busy. There is a new structure going up near the beaver and otter exhibits but the construction is on southcoast time so it should be completed sometime in 2019. It is a great little zoo and I am happy we live near it.
