Labor Day Gluttony
Labor day we had planned to go on the boat but somehow found ourselves mucking about the house near lunch and decided instead to go to the fancy Marion playground. This led to a stroll down to the Marion shore which led to getting ice cream which we ate under the harbormaster’s hut. It was almost a year ago that we stood in that same spot with a newborn Ellie trying to give Phoebe an extra hour of single child bliss. After that we walked around Barden’s boatyard and drooled over their fine collection of yachts. We managed to get the girls in bed for me to get in a good 35 mile bike ride and then Cristin suggested we would go out to dinner at the Wave. It was in the top five least enjoyable dinners. Ellie is finding her voice which means squawking at a high volume with no appreciation of its effects. Phoebe was intent on doing anything but eating. Cristin crammed down her lobster roll in two minutes and I gave myself a stomach ache by ordering bacon pizza, something typical of what I seem to order after these long bike rides. When we got home, we got ready for bed which means I wash the dishes and listen to Cristin upstairs saying repeatedly “Ellie, sit down”. After the bath Phoebe and I played with her stickerbooks and then put her to bed. Probably the best labor day weekend ever.
