Dog Day
Sunday we gave the kids the option of boat, beach, or zoo and they picked beach. The beach is only about a quarter mile from our house so it actually takes 27 times longer to pack up than it does to get there. Phoebe spent most of the time swimming and floating with her mother and working on her sand castles. The sand was pretty hot so Ellie crawled around in the style of Gollum to minimize contact between her body and the ground. The ice cream truck visited twice but Phoebe didn’t take an interest as she doesn’t really understand what it is and somehow she did not notice that strange hypnotic songs or screaming children running over to it. We dashed home for naps which Phoebe interrupted with her sudden need for an afternoon snack, eating into my time on the bike. I officially surpassed 2000 miles for the year which is more or less on schedule but my legs were completely fried. I need some kind of rejuvenating vacation. The kids had to be woken up from their naps and we gave the dinner selection to Phoebe and she picked Friendly’s. It is inexpensive and kid friendly but definitely not healthy. Along with her hot dog she did eat one stalk of broccoli or “tree” as Cristin refers to them in her half hearted attempt to pique her interest. She then washed that down with a Blizzard with the help of Ellie.
