Irene Blew
Perhaps Irene heard that we were questioning her resolve because power went out roughly one hour after her arrival and remains out more than two days later at this writing. In an instant we found ourselves in the midst of Little House of the Prairie, minus the formidable communicable diseases and so we did what anybody in the 19th century would have done on a sunday, we put up wall decals. After some frustration, I felt they came out better than expected, although I typically set the bar low. Later in the day we took a drive down to the lighthouse a few hours before high tide. The harbor was rough and a few sailboats had broken moorings, but compared to Bob 20 years ago which had wiped out 128 houses in Mattapoisett in a 10 foot storm surge, destruction was pretty minimal.
